Discover the most beautiful wedding dresses for the 2012 bride

Getting married in 2012? Congratulations! Okay, so forget everything and let’s talk dresses! This has to be the most important outfit of your life, far more important than the prom dress, for sure! The bridal collections from all the major labels have by now been revealed so, let’s review the trends from the 2012 collections!

White vintage style wedding dress with floral under bust detailing and fish tail bottom.
Vintage is a key trend most seasons and 2012 is no exception. In order to look up to date in vintage mix it up by adding brooches and lace veils. Vintage is all about sticking to styles that never date therefore, think the figure hugging dress or the flapper as seen in our Wimbledon inspired wedding post. The vintage look has been worn recently by celebrity style icons Kate Moss, Lily Allen and the princess herself, Kate Middleton. Each celebrity wore new designs however, they all had a very vintage feel which is what makes them eternally stylish. Now, if it’s good enough for a future Queen, it’s good enough for us, right?

The strapless dress is a style that returns to collections season after season. It is a style that has been made famous by the likes of Vera Wang and Valentino. However, not everyone can carry off the look so, here are our tips for those of us who need a little guidance…
If you have wide shoulders, do not despair this look can work for you too! In order to distract the eye away from you shoulders, why not have a figure hugging dress to balance out you upper body and your hips. The key to working this look is to draw the eye to somewhere else therefore, a feature sash can work well or detailing around the bust maybe.
If you have a smaller bust a strapless dress can work well for you as long as you draw attention to the correct places. Here at Zk Magazine we suggest that you wear a dress with detailing around the bust such as the beautiful Rosa Clara (2012 collection) below. This will draw the eye up and create the illusion of a fuller bust.

Bows were heavily featured in the 2012 collections for their princess like quality and feminine feel. They can be worn as a belt, as a colour feature or as an accessory. Also, adding a simple bow is an easy way to work the vintage look. That’s two key trends in one outfit my friends, has to be good news, right?

Princess-style skirts work because they make every bride feel fabulous! What could be more romantic and exciting than looking like a princess on your wedding day whilst swirling around the dance floor with your lovely skirt? As always, our go to bridal designers such as Vera Wang and Rosa Clara have featured princess-style skirts and trust us ladies, these dresses look amazing!
Also, this style works well on all shapes for it balances out body shapes. Girls with a bigger bust should aim for a puffier skirt to balance out their torso. Pair shaped girls, on the other hand should wear the smaller skirt and aim for eye catching detailing around the bust. This look works well for ladies with wider shoulders too, the bigger the skirt, the smaller your shoulders will appear! Perfect!
